Garlic Shiitake Brats + Cabbage

This one-pan dish brings the heat and keeps it simple: bratwurst, charred cabbage, a touch of whole grain mustard, and a generous squeeze of Garlic Shiitake Hot Sauce, all broiled to fiery, flavorful perfection. Pile it into a toasted brioche bun or serve it up with roasted potatoes—either way, it’s packed with savory flavor, and plenty of heat.

This savory one-pan dish brings the fiery flavor: bratwurst, charred cabbage, whole grain mustard, and a generous squeeze of Garlic Shiitake, all broiled to spicy perfection.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1 Tbsp. Olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. Mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. Yellowbird Garlic Shiitake Hot Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Whole grain mustard
  • 1 head of savoy cabbage, cut into 2” wedges
  • 4-6 Bratwurst sausage links, quartered crosswise
  • Torn dill, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Set oven to broil and allow to pre-heat. 
  2. While the oven is heating, cut cabbage into 2” thick wedges.
  3. Whisk Yellowbird Garlic Shiitake Hot Sauce, whole grain mustard, mayonnaise, and 1 Tbsp. olive oil in a bowl to combine. Rub mixture over cabbage wedges, working between leaves.
  4. Place Bratwurst and cabbage on foil-lined baking sheet and broil, turning halfway through, until brats are browned and cabbage is tender and slightly charred, about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Transfer to a serving dish (or plate it directly) and garnish with fresh dill.
  6. Serve with your favorite toasted buns (we like brioche!), or over simple roasted red potatoes.
  7. Drizzle with more Garlic Shiitake before serving for extra fiery flavor.
